He was hired to end her life – instead, he saved it.

A routine traffic stop in 2013 blew the lid off a cold-blooded murder-for-hire plot targeting South Carolina socialite Nancy Latham. When police pulled over Aaron Wilkinson for erratic driving, he confessed from the back of the patrol car that he had been recruited by an old prison friend to carry out a hit. Investigators quickly uncovered a “hit packet” containing photos of Nancy and her daughter, maps of her home, and detailed instructions on her daily routines. The trail led directly to Nancy’s estranged husband, Chris Latham, a high-powered banker, and his mistress, Wendy Moore, who had used her work computer to print the maps found in the killers’ hands. While the middleman took his own life before trial, both Chris and Wendy were convicted and served time for their roles in the conspiracy. Nancy eventually visited Wilkinson in jail to personally thank him, credited his sudden change of heart with saving her life and the lives of her children.
