A New York man is caught in a multi state heist involving 33,000 pounds of frozen crab.
Federal prosecutors say 31 year old Romoy Forbes turned hacked trucking accounts into his own black market delivery service. According to charging documents, he allegedly broke into legitimate carriers’ email systems and used their identities to book loads of goods, including 33,750 pounds of frozen snow crab worth about $325,000 from a Worcester, Massachusetts warehouse. Instead of hauling the shipment to its customer in Jacksonville, Florida, Forbes is accused of steering the load to a grocery business in Queens, where he photographed the pallets and sold them off. Investigators say he used the same playbook weeks earlier to divert a shipment of blueberries in New Jersey and designer cologne in New York, turning stolen log in credentials into a cargo theft pipeline. He’s now facing federal charges for interstate transportation of stolen goods and conspiracy, with potential prison time and hefty fines if convicted.
